Boxing BC: Board of Directors needed!

5. Executive Members

a) The Executive of the association shall be the officers of the society and shall, with the exception of the Past

President, be elected for two year terms by voting members at the Annual General Meeting. The year of the election for each position is indicated with each position.

b) The Executive shall consist of the following:

a) No member of the Executive shall be remunerated for being or acting as an Executive member but shall be reimbursed

for expenses necessarily and reasonably incurred by him while engaged in the affairs of the society and which have been approved by the Executive.

d) Should a vacancy of the Executive occur for any reason, the Executive shall have the right to appoint a representative to the position for the duration of the elected term.

6) Board Members

a) The members of the Board not on the Executive shall be elected for two year terms by the voting members at the

Annual General Meeting except where indicated. The year of the election for each position is indicated with each position below.

b) The Board shall be composed of the Executive plus
Chief Official even, Coaches Representative odd, Athletes Representative (i. Male odd ii. Female odd), Zones Representative even, Medical Director appointed

c) Should a vacancy on the Board occur for any reason, the Executive shall have the right to appoint a representative to the position for the duration of the elected term.

7. Duties and responsibilities of the Boxing BC Executive

a) President
Is, upon election, automatically one of Boxing BC’s two representatives to Boxing Canada and shall be registered with the national body as the representative for British Columbia holding the national vote; is chairman of all Boxing BC and Executive meetings and is a member ex-officio of all committees; is a signing officer on all Boxing BC’s cheques; presides at all meetings in which he is the chair and his rulings, when concurred by his Executive, are final; he shall prepare and present his annual report at the Annual General Meeting of the association. The Presidency is for a term of two years and the incumbent can succeed himself in future elections.

b) 1
Shall assume the position of the president in his absence. Responsibilities include selection criteria, organization of tournaments, games and major competition planning, liaising with all Boxing BC sanctioned events, liaison with Boxing Canada for Nationals and other Provinces for events. Overseeing yearly planning meeting, AGM, semi AGM planning, maintenance of Constitution and by-laws and operating policy manual and succession planning.

c) 2
Shall assume the duties of President in the absence of both the President and the 1st
increasing the number of members, quality and quantity of member services, fundraising, athlete assistance program, volunteer development, overseeing the web page, athlete recruitment, liaison with the media, clubs and the sports community.

d) Treasurer
Shall maintain the financial records of the society and receive and disburse all funds belonging to Boxing BC, whether absolutely or in trust. The bank accounts of the society shall be held in a bank designated by the Treasurer. The Treasurer shall be a signing officer on all Boxing BC cheques and shall present an audited budget; assuring records are kept; billing of clubs; writing of cheques; setting fees; preparing annual financial report; liaising with auditors; preparing reports for Executive as needed; annual application for funding to the government and expense claims.

e) Secretary / Registrar

Responsibilities shall be to attend to correspondence items at all Executive, Annual General, Semi-Annual and Extra-ordinary meetings of Boxing BC as the meetings occur. Duty shall be to oversee the registrations processor all members of the province of British Columbia and ensure that these members are registered with Boxing Canada. Responsibilities include overseeing the maintaining of the registration database; collection of fees; attending tournaments to certify eligibility and conducting ringside recording.

f) Past President
Responsibilities include overseeing discipline; appeals; complaints; compliance with rules.

g) Staff
The Executive may, from time to time, authorize the employment of other such persons as they deem necessary to carry on the objectives of Boxing BC and such employee(s) shall have the authority and shall perform duties as from time to time may be prescribed by the Executive

11. Duties and Responsibilities of the Board of Directors
a) Chief Official
Elected by Boxing BC Officials on even years during the corresponding Boxing BC annual general meeting. Responsibilities include overseeing all BC officials; designation of officials to attend all sanctioned shows and tournaments in BC; appoint BC officials to inter-provincial and national tournaments; conduct clinics for BC officials’, certification and update current status of BC officials.

b) Zones Representative
Shall be responsible for bringing concerns of the regions to the Executive and working with a committee of Zones representatives, to promote and assist in the development of amateur boxing within their area; to assist in the selection of travelling teams, talent identification and development of zone planning for amateur boxing; to assist in the formulation of plans in the area of athlete, coaching and officials development; to assist the Boxing BC Executive in scouting and retrieval of information; to assist Boxing BC Executive in the inspection of facilities to ensure they meet standards and to provide assistance to parties and communities interested in hosting an amateur boxing event, meeting or starting a chartered club and working progressively with all members towards the organizations goals.

c) Coaches’ Representative
Elected by the coaches on odd years during the Annual General Meeting with voting as per club structure. Responsibilities are to act as liaison between coaches and the Executive of Boxing BC and to coordinate clinics for the certification of British Columbia coaches.

d) Athletes’ Representative

Shall represent the general athlete membership at all planning forums.

e) Medical Director

Appointed by the voting delegates at the Annual General Meeting of the Association and shall hold office until he/she resigns or the Board appoints a new Medical Director. The Medical Director shall advise and make recommendations to the Board and Executive on all matters concerning health and safety in the sport of amateur boxing within the province of British Columbia.

12. Oath of Office of Executive and Board of Directors
All members who permit their names to stand for nomination or appointment to the Boxing BC Executive Board and/or Board of Directors:

I. must agree to fulfill the duties as stated in the current Boxing BC By-laws of the position they stand for

II. must sign a statement to adhere to that commitment on behalf of all chartered clubs within Boxing BC

III. must be a member in good standing of the society

IV. willful failure to knowingly not fulfill the duties as stated in the current Boxing BC By-laws shall be cause for removal from office.
